Sign In, Sign Up & Password Reset
UpChannels signs you in with an email address and a password, and nothing else. There is no "Sign in with Google", no magic link or code, and no two-factor step. Sign in at app.upchannels.com/sign-in. A new business starts at app.upchannels.com/sign-up.
Overview
Four screens handle account access. On a wide screen each one shows a dark brand panel on the left and the form on the right. On a phone you see the logo and the form. These screens always use light mode.
| Screen | Heading | Use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in | Welcome back | Sign in with your email and password |
| Create an account | Create an account | Start a new business with a 14-day free trial. You become its owner |
| Forgot password | Forgot your password? | Get an emailed link to choose a new password |
| Choose a new password | Choose a new password | Set the new password. It only works when you open it from the link in the reset email |
Sign in, Create an account and Forgot password each show Cloudflare's human check below the fields, just above the main button. The main button stays greyed out until the check passes. That usually takes a second or two on its own; now and then you're asked to tick a box. If the check can't load at all, an amber note appears where it should have been, explaining why the button is grey, with a Try again button.
These aren't offered: signing in with Google or another provider, magic links or codes, two-factor authentication, a "Remember me" box, a show-password (eye) button, and invitation emails for team members.
- Go to app.upchannels.com/sign-in.
- Enter your Email and Password. Capital letters in the email don't matter, but the password must match exactly.
- Wait for the human check to pass, then click Sign In.
If you opened an app page while signed out, signing in takes you back to that page. Otherwise you land on Shortcuts. From there, three checks can move you:
- The free trial has ended or the subscription isn't active. Every page sends you to Plan & Billing until a plan is active.
- The login isn't linked to a business. You're sent to Onboarding.
- The owner has hidden a page from your menu. That page shows a "403 - Forbidden" card instead. A business where only one login is still active never sees this, and people switched off or deleted in Settings → Team don't count towards that.
If sign-in fails, a red Authentication Failed box shows the reason and the human check runs again. Wait for it to pass before you retry.
Create an account
- Go to app.upchannels.com/sign-up. The sign-up buttons on the UpChannels website open this page.
- Enter your Business name, your Email and a Password of at least 8 characters.
- Wait for the human check, then click Create account.
This creates your business, your owner login and a 14-day free trial, then signs you in. No card is asked for, and there's no verification email to wait for. Next, set up your business in Onboarding.
- The form has no name, phone or plan fields. You add those details later.
- Each email address can have only one login anywhere in UpChannels.
- If you land back on the sign-in screen after clicking Create account, your account was still created. Sign in with the email and password you just chose.
Forgot your password
- On the sign-in screen, click Forgot password? next to the Password label.
- Enter the email you sign in with, wait for the human check, and click Send reset link.
- The screen says Check your email. It says this whether or not an account uses that address, so it won't warn you about a typo.
- Open the newest email titled "Reset your UpChannels password" and click Reset my password. The link lasts 1 hour.
- On Choose a new password, type the new password twice (8 to 72 characters) and click Update password and sign in.
You're signed in and taken to Shortcuts. Any other device signed in with this login is signed out.
Finish in the same browser that opened the email link, because the link only works there. If you open the reset page in any other browser, it says This link has expired. On a phone, the link may open in your mail app's built-in browser. Each link works once, and a newer reset email cancels any earlier link.
Team members' logins
Team members don't sign up, and UpChannels doesn't send invitation emails. The owner creates each login:
- In the sidebar, click Settings (the tile shows to everyone Settings opens for), then Team, then Create User.
- Fill in the member's first name, last name and email, type a password in Password and again in Confirm Password, then click Create. It needs at least 8 characters, the same minimum as signing up.
- Give the member their email and password. They sign in on the normal sign-in screen.
If a member forgets their password, they can use Forgot password?. The owner can also type a new password in that member's New Password and Confirm Password fields in Settings → Team and click Save — again, at least 8 characters. Roles, menus and user packs are covered in Team & Menu Visibility.
Removing a member ends their login. Turning Active off and clicking Save signs the member out on every device and stops their email and password working; switching Active back on and saving lets them sign in again with the same details. Delete does the same and removes them: they leave the team list, their user seat is freed, and the Active switch can no longer bring them back. Creating a user with that same email address brings the removed person back instead of making a second login, with the role and worker details you type in that form — what they had before does not come back with them.
Signing out and staying signed in
- Sign Out is the small red button at the bottom of the sidebar, next to your name. Click it, then click Sign Out again to confirm.
- Signing out signs this device out only. Other tabs in this browser go to the sign-in screen straight away; your other computers, tablets and phones stay signed in. To sign them out too, tick Also sign out on my other devices in the confirmation before you click Sign Out. That takes effect at once: the other devices lose their screens straight away, and they also stop being able to reach this store's data at all.
- You stay signed in after closing the browser. When nobody has moved the mouse, typed, scrolled or tapped in any UpChannels tab in this browser for 18 hours, this browser signs out and the sign-in screen says "You were signed out after 18 hours without activity. Sign in again to continue." Your other devices are not touched.
- A password reset signs this login out everywhere except the browser that did the reset.
- The owner switched your login off. The owner's switch-off in Settings → Team signs you out on every device. An open tab goes to the sign-in screen the next time you open a page or come back to it (checked at most every 30 seconds), and within 5 minutes otherwise, with "You were signed out because your session ended. Sign in again to continue." Signing in again then shows "This login has been switched off. Ask your store owner to turn it back on."
Your email address
Every account is created already verified, so you don't need to confirm your email. Settings → Primary User shows Verified next to Email Address. The Verify button beside it sends a verification email if you ever need a new one.
Changing Email Address in Settings → Primary User and clicking Save changes the email you sign in with, straight away and with the same password. Reset links go to the new address from then on. An address that already has an UpChannels login is refused, and nothing changes.
Tips & best practices
- Give every staff member their own login. A shared login still means shared hours, shared history and one password to change when somebody leaves. Signing out signs out only the device you're on, but Also sign out on my other devices signs out every counter on that login, so leave it unticked unless you mean it.
- If the human check never appears, wait about ten seconds: the screen then says "The security check couldn't load, so you can't continue yet." Turn off ad or privacy blockers for app.upchannels.com and click Try again, or use another browser or network. The main button stays grey until a check actually passes, because UpChannels checks it again on its own servers.
- Use only the newest reset email, and finish in the browser it opened.
- Wait at least a minute before clicking send another link. A second request for the same address within 60 seconds doesn't send an email.
- Check which email you used. A wrong email and a wrong password give the same error, so if you're sure of the password, try the other addresses you use.
- When a team member leaves, switch their Active off in Settings → Team, or Delete them if they are gone for good and you want their seat back. Either signs them out everywhere; you don't need to change their password. This works for a co-owner too, as long as another active owner remains.
- Bookmark app.upchannels.com/sign-in. The sign-in screens have no support chat. Support and Ask AI are at the bottom of the sidebar once you're signed in.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Fix |
|---|---|
| Sign In, Create account or Send reset link is greyed out | The human check hasn't passed yet, has expired, or is blocked. Wait a few seconds and tick the box if one appears. If the check can't load, the screen says "The security check couldn't load, so you can't continue yet." after about ten seconds — turn off ad or privacy blockers for app.upchannels.com and click Try again, or use another browser or network |
| "Authentication Failed" with "Invalid login credentials" | The email or the password is wrong. The screen can't say which. Check the address you signed up with, or the one your owner gave you, then use Forgot password? |
| "Authentication Failed" with a message about captcha | The human check was missing or was rejected. Wait for it to pass again, then retry |
| "Captcha verification failed. Please try again." | Same cause, on Create an account or Forgot password. Wait for the check to pass, then click the button again |
| The reset email never arrives | Check spam. Make sure you entered the exact email you sign in with, because the screen says "Check your email" even when no account uses that address. Wait a minute before asking again. If nothing has come after 15 minutes, email team@upchannels.com — the link under the green box says so too. When it is our sending that broke, UpChannels is alerted automatically |
| "This link has expired" | The link was already used, is more than an hour old, was replaced by a newer email, or was opened in a different browser. Click Request a new link, open the newest email, and finish in that same browser |
| "Choose a password that is different from your current one." | Pick a different password. You have 15 minutes to try again on the same screen without a new email |
| "The passwords don't match." | Retype both fields on Choose a new password |
| You changed your email in Settings and now can't sign in | Use the new address with your usual password. If the save was refused ("That address already has an UpChannels login"), the old address is still yours |
| Back on the sign-in screen right after Create account | The account was created, but the automatic sign-in didn't finish. Sign in with the email and password you just chose |
| "An account with this email already exists." | That email already has a login, possibly as a team member at another store. Sign in instead, or use Forgot password? |
| Signed out unexpectedly | Read the amber notice on the sign-in screen: it names the reason when there is one. Nothing in this browser was used for 18 hours ("You were signed out after 18 hours without activity."); the owner switched your login off, or someone signed this login out with Also sign out on my other devices ticked ("You were signed out because your session ended."); or the password was reset on another device. Sign in again, and give each person their own login. If sign-in then says the login is switched off, ask the owner |
| Sent to Plan & Billing after signing in | The free trial has ended or the subscription isn't active. An amber notice at the top of that page says which. The owner chooses a plan on Plan & Billing |
| "Redirecting to onboarding..." after signing in | The login isn't linked to a business. Contact UpChannels support |
| "403 - Forbidden" | The page is hidden from your menu. Ask your store owner to show it in Settings → Team |
| "Too many requests" | Too many attempts from your network in a short time. Wait a minute and try again |
| A new team member never got an invitation | UpChannels doesn't send invitations. The owner gives them the email and password from Create User |
| "This login has been switched off. Ask your store owner to turn it back on." | The owner switched your login off, or removed you, in Settings → Team. Only an owner can undo it — the Owner switch, or the owner role. A switched-off member is switched back on from the team list; a removed one is brought back by creating a user with the same email address |
| Looking for "Sign in with Google" | It isn't offered. Use your email and password |

Section: Sign in
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email (placeholder "john.doe@example.com") | Form, first field | The email you sign in with | Required. The browser checks it looks like an email. Spaces at either end and capital letters are ignored |
| Password (placeholder "Enter your password") | Form, second field | Your password | Required. Case-sensitive and used exactly as typed. No minimum length on this screen. Hidden as you type, with no show-password button |
| Forgot password? | Right end of the Password label | Opens Forgot your password? | Always shown |
| Human check | Under Password, centred | Cloudflare's check. It passes on its own, or asks you to tick a box | See Section: Human check |
| Red box Authentication Failed | Above the button | Shows why the sign-in failed | See Messages you may see |
| Sign In | Full-width button | Signs you in and opens the page you were trying to reach, or Shortcuts | Greyed out until the human check passes, and while signing in (it reads "Signing in..."). After a failed attempt it greys out again until the check re-runs |
| Sign up here ("Don't have an account? Sign up here") | Under the form | Opens Create an account | Always shown |
| Amber notice above the form | Top of the form | Explains why you were sent here: "Your login has been switched off. Ask your store owner to turn it back on.", "You were signed out because your session ended. Sign in again to continue." or "You were signed out after 18 hours without activity. Sign in again to continue." | Only when the app sent you here for that reason. It hides while a red Authentication Failed box shows |
| Opening the screen while signed in | (behaviour) | The form shows as normal. Signing in again replaces your current session | Nothing sends you back into the app automatically |
| Returning to the page you wanted | (behaviour) | Open an app page while signed out — a link in a text, a bookmark, a page whose session had ended — and signing in takes you straight back to it, address and all. Signing out yourself, and the sign-out after 18 hours idle, start you on Shortcuts instead | Only pages of this site are returned to; anything else falls back to Shortcuts |
Section: Create an account
Fields:
| Field | Required | Default | Rules and error text |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business name (placeholder "Acme Inc.") | Yes | Empty | Becomes your business name. You can change it later in Onboarding or Settings. A name made only of spaces is refused with "Enter your business name." Spaces at either end are trimmed off |
| Email (placeholder "john.doe@example.com") | Yes | Empty | Becomes your sign-in email. It needs a full domain such as .com, otherwise "Enter an email address like name@example.com — it needs a full domain such as .com". Spaces at either end are trimmed off. An email already used anywhere in UpChannels gives "An account with this email already exists." |
| Password (placeholder "At least 8 characters") | Yes | Empty | At least 8 characters. The browser won't submit a shorter one; if one gets through, "Use a password of at least 8 characters." |
| Human check | Yes, when shown | (none) | See Section: Human check |
Buttons:
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Create account | Full-width button | Creates your business, your owner login and your free trial, signs you in, and opens Shortcuts | Greyed out until the human check passes, and while working (it reads "Creating account..."). On failure, a red Sign-up failed box explains why and the check re-runs |
| Terms of Service / Privacy Policy ("By creating an account you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.") | Small line under Create account | Opens the page | Always shown. Creating the account is the agreement; there is nothing to tick |
| Sign in here ("Already have an account? Sign in here") | Under the form | Opens Sign in | Always shown |
What Create account sets up:
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Business | A new business named from Business name |
| Owner login | Your email and password, as the business owner. Already verified, so there's no confirmation email |
| Free trial | 14 days, starting straight away. No card is asked for |
| Automatic sign-in | Runs the human check a second time, usually without you seeing it, and waits up to 8 seconds. If that doesn't finish, or the sign-in fails, you're sent to the sign-in screen without a message. The account exists, so sign in with the details you just chose |
| If something fails | If the login can't be created (for example, the email is already taken), the half-made business is removed, so a retry doesn't leave an extra business behind |
| Not on the form | Name, phone, plan choice, and a terms tick box (creating the account is the agreement, and the Terms and Privacy pages are linked under the button) |
Section: Forgot your password?
Request form:
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email (placeholder "john.doe@example.com") | Form | The address to send the reset link to | Required. Use the email you sign in with. Spaces at either end and capital letters are ignored |
| Human check | Under Email | Cloudflare's check | See Section: Human check |
| Red box Couldn't send the link | Above the button | Shows why the request failed | See Messages you may see |
| Send reset link | Full-width button | Asks for a reset email, then shows the Check your email box | Greyed out until the human check passes, and while working (it reads "Sending...") |
| Back to sign in ("Remembered it? Back to sign in") | Under the form | Opens Sign in | Always shown |
After sending:
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green box Check your email: "If an account exists for …, we've sent a link to reset your password. The link expires in 1 hour." | Replaces the form | Confirms the request | Shows the email you typed. It looks the same whether or not an account uses that address, on purpose, so the form can't be used to find out who has an account |
| send another link ("Didn't get it? Check your spam folder, or send another link. Only the newest link works.") | Under the green box | Goes back to the form with your email still filled in | Wait a minute first. A second request for the same address within 60 seconds doesn't send an email. Send reset link isn't greyed out this time, so wait for the human check to pass again before you click it, or you'll see "Captcha verification failed. Please try again." |
| team@upchannels.com ("Still nothing after 15 minutes? Email team@upchannels.com.") | Under the line above | Opens a new message to UpChannels support | For the case the screen can't tell you about: the request was accepted but the email itself did not go out |
| Back to sign in | Bottom | Opens Sign in | (none) |
When "Check your email" shows but no email is sent:
| Case | Why |
|---|---|
| No account uses that address | Nothing to reset. The screen looks the same on purpose |
| The login was switched off in Settings → Team | A new password wouldn't let you in, so no email is sent. Ask your store owner to switch you back on |
| A second request for the same address within 60 seconds | Only one reset email per address per minute |
| The address was changed in Settings → Primary User | That field does change your sign-in email, so reset links go to the new address. Ask using the new one |
| An email-service problem | The screen can't tell you — it looks the same for every address on purpose — but UpChannels is alerted the moment sending fails, without anybody having to report it. Wait a minute and ask again; if nothing has arrived after 15 minutes, email team@upchannels.com |
Section: Choose a new password
This screen works only when you reach it from the Reset my password button in the email, in the same browser. Otherwise it shows the expired-link box instead of the form.
Fields:
| Field | Required | Default | Rules and error text |
|---|---|---|---|
| New password (placeholder "At least 8 characters") | Yes | Empty | 8 to 72 characters. The field stops accepting characters at 72. Must differ from your current password: "Choose a password that is different from your current one." The sign-in service may also reject a weak password and say what it's missing |
| Confirm new password (placeholder "Type it again") | Yes | Empty | 8 to 72 characters. Must match: "The passwords don't match." |
Buttons:
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Update password and sign in | Full-width button | Uses up the link, sets the new password, signs this browser in and opens Shortcuts. Every other device signed in with this login is signed out | Greyed out only while working (it reads "Updating..." and stays that way while the app loads). This screen has no human check |
| Red box Password not updated | Above the button | Shows why the password wasn't saved | See Messages you may see |
Expired-link box (replaces the form):
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amber box This link has expired: "Reset links work once and expire after 1 hour. If you asked for more than one email, only the newest link works." | Replaces the form | Explains why the form isn't shown | Appears when the page is typed in, bookmarked or opened in a different browser, when the link is more than an hour old, when the link was already used or replaced by a newer email, or when the link is damaged |
| Request a new link | Full-width button | Opens Forgot your password? | (none) |
| Back to sign in | Bottom | Opens Sign in | (none) |
Retry window: if the password is rejected after the link was accepted (the same as your old one, or too weak), you have 15 minutes to try a different password on the same screen without a new email.
Section: Human check
| Topic | What happens |
|---|---|
| Where it appears | Sign in, Create an account and Forgot your password?. Not on Choose a new password |
| What it looks like | Cloudflare's box under the form. The wording in it is Cloudflare's own. It often passes by itself; sometimes it asks you to tick a box |
| Button greyed out | The main button stays greyed out until the check passes: on first load, after the check expires or errors, and after every failed attempt (each pass works for one try only, so the check re-runs) |
| Expiry | An expired check refreshes by itself |
| The box never appears | An ad or privacy blocker, a strict work network or a very old browser has stopped it loading. After about ten seconds an amber note replaces the empty space: "The security check couldn't load, so you can't continue yet. Turn off any ad blocker or privacy blocker for this site and choose Try again, or use a different browser or network." The main button stays grey, because UpChannels checks the human check again on its own servers and would refuse the attempt anyway |
| Try again (in that amber note) | Fetches Cloudflare's check again from scratch. Allow app.upchannels.com in the blocker first, or switch network, then click it. You can click it as often as you like |
| The check loads but keeps failing | Two Cloudflare errors in a row show the same amber note and Try again, so a network that reaches the script but not the check explains itself too |
| Check rejected | Sign in shows Authentication Failed with a message about captcha. Create an account and Forgot password show "Captcha verification failed. Please try again." |
| Cloudflare unreachable | On Create an account and Forgot your password?, if UpChannels can't reach Cloudflare to confirm the check, it counts as failed and you see "Captcha verification failed. Please try again." Try again in a moment |
Section: Where sign-in lands
These steps run in order after you sign in, create an account or reset your password.
| # | What you see | When | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | (nothing) | Always | Your browser opens Shortcuts |
| 2 | Spinner and "Loading..." | While your session is read | Nothing, wait |
| 2b | "Redirecting to sign in..." | No valid session: never signed in, signed out on another device, or the session ended (for example, the owner switched your login off) | You're sent to the sign-in screen. When the session ended from elsewhere, the sign-in screen says "You were signed out because your session ended. Sign in again to continue." |
| 3 | Spinner and "Loading...", then "Redirecting..." | The free trial's end date has passed, or the subscription is cancelled, past due, unpaid, inactive or incomplete | You're sent to Plan & Billing, which always opens, and an amber notice at the top says which of the two brought you. Active subscriptions, trials still running and businesses with no subscription record are let in |
| 4 | Spinner and "Redirecting to onboarding..." | Your login isn't linked to a business | You're sent to Onboarding. Plan & Billing and Onboarding itself are never redirected. Accounts made through Create an account always have a business, so this is rare |
| 5 | Card "403 - Forbidden" with "You do not have permission to view this page. Contact your organization owner." | The page is hidden from your menu | The card replaces the page. Never shown in a business where only one login is still active (people switched off or deleted in Settings → Team don't count), or on Plan & Billing |
| 6 | Owner-only strip at the top of the page naming the next setup step, for example "Setup 0 of 3 · Finish your store profile." with the button Finish store profile | You're the owner and the store isn't fully set up yet | Nothing is blocked. The X button (tooltip Hide for now) hides it in that browser tab until the next step comes up. It disappears once the store has orders |
Section: Sessions and automatic sign-out
| Topic | What happens |
|---|---|
| Staying signed in | You stay signed in when you close and reopen the browser. Your session refreshes as you use the app |
| Signing out | The Sign Out button ends this browser's session. Other tabs in the same browser go to the sign-in screen straight away; other computers, tablets and phones are untouched. Ticking Also sign out on my other devices in the confirmation ends the login's sessions everywhere instead, and those devices drop to the sign-in screen when they next refresh |
| Shared logins | If several people share one login, one person signing out signs out only their own device. Ticking Also sign out on my other devices still does, so leave it unticked on a shared login |
| Idle sign-out | When nobody has moved the mouse, clicked, typed, scrolled or tapped in any UpChannels tab in this browser for 18 hours, the browser signs out and opens the sign-in screen with "You were signed out after 18 hours without activity. Sign in again to continue." It signs out this browser only; your other devices stay signed in |
| Several tabs | The 18 hours are counted for the browser, not for each tab. Working in one tab keeps every other tab of the same browser awake, so a tab left open in the back office doesn't sign you out mid-task. Tabs share this through the browser's own storage; in a private window, or with site data blocked, each tab falls back to counting its own 18 hours |
| Password reset | Finishing a reset signs this login out everywhere except the browser that did the reset |
| Owner sets a new password | The member's old password stops working for new sign-ins |
| Member switched off or removed | Signed out on every device at once, and can't sign in again until the owner switches Active back on — or, for a removed member, creates a user with the same email address. An open tab goes to the sign-in screen the next time a page opens or the tab is used again (checked at most every 30 seconds), and within 5 minutes otherwise. See Section: Team member logins |
Section: Team member logins (Settings → Team)
Team members get their login from the owner. There is no invitation email and no accept-invite page. Full details of the Team panel are on Team & Menu Visibility.
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Settings | Bottom of the sidebar | Opens Settings | Shows to everyone Settings opens for: the Owner switch, the owner role, or the store's only active member |
| Team | Settings, left rail (last item) | Opens Team Management: "Manage team members and their menu visibility settings" | Opens for the same people as the rest of Settings |
| Create User | Team, next to the Users label | Opens the Create User dialog | Shown only to the person whose Owner switch is on. If every user seat on your plan is taken, the License Limit Reached window opens instead ("You've reached your user license limit.") with Cancel and Go to Billing |
| First Name *, Last Name * | Create User dialog | The member's name | Required |
| Username (Auto-generated) (placeholder "Will be generated from email...") | Create User dialog | Filled in as you type the email: the first five characters before the @ plus ten random digits | Read-only. The member signs in with their email, not this username |
| Email * | Create User dialog | The member's sign-in email | Required. An address that already has a login elsewhere in UpChannels is refused — except one belonging to somebody this store removed, which brings them back (see the Yes, Delete User row below) |
| Password *, Confirm Password * | Create User dialog | The member's password | Required and must match. At least 8 characters and no more than 72 — the same rule as signing up and resetting — with "At least 8 characters" under the box. A shorter or longer one is refused with "Choose a password of at least 8 characters." or "Choose a password of no more than 72 characters." in a red box, and nobody is created |
| Active, Owner, Default Location and the worker fields (Job Title, Mobile Phone, Hourly Rate ($), Skills (comma separated), Service Areas (comma separated), Field Worker) | Create User dialog | Profile settings for the member | See Team & Menu Visibility. Turning on Owner opens Grant Owner Privileges (Cancel or Yes, Grant Owner Access); confirm it and the login is created as a co-owner, who can open Settings, Team and billing from their first sign-in. Only an owner can create one |
| Cancel | Create User dialog footer | Closes the dialog without saving | (none) |
| Create | Create User dialog footer | Creates the login straight away, already verified. No email is sent | Greyed out until first name, last name and password are filled in, both passwords match, and the email is a complete address. Afterwards, give the member their email and password |
| New Password (placeholder "Set a new password", with "At least 8 characters" under it), Confirm Password (placeholder "Confirm new password") | Selected member's panel | A new password for that member | Owners only. At least 8 characters and no more than 72, as everywhere else. Your own row is in the list too, so you can set your own password here |
| Save | Selected member's panel | Saves the profile and, when filled in, the new password | Shows "Password updated successfully." when a new password was set, otherwise "User profile saved." |
| Delete (trash icon) | Selected member's panel | Opens Delete User: "Are you sure you want to delete this user?" with the note "They are signed out on every device, can no longer sign in, and leave this list for good — the Active switch will not bring them back. Their seat is freed. Orders, stock and other store records are not affected. To have them back later, use Create User with the same email address." | Shown to everyone Team lets in, not only the Owner switch. Greyed out for owners (tooltip "Cannot delete an owner") and for yourself (tooltip "You cannot delete yourself"). The delete itself needs owner level — the Owner switch or the owner role. The store's only active member is the one person Team lets in without that: for them the button only ever points at a colleague who is already switched off, and the confirmation answers "Only the organization owner can do this". See the next two rows |
| Yes, Delete User / Cancel | Delete User dialog footer | Yes, Delete User removes the member: their login is switched off, they are signed out on every device and they leave the list ("… was removed from your team and signed out on every device. Their seat is free."). Cancel closes the dialog | They stay off the list after a reload and their seat is free. The Active switch cannot bring them back; Create User with the same email address does |
| Active switch | Selected member's panel | Switches the member's login on or off when you click Save | Off signs them out on every device and stops them signing in; on lets them sign in again. Greyed for yourself. Another owner can be switched off while one active owner remains (you count). Saving the change needs owner level. The store's only active member is the one person Team lets in without that, and everyone else in their store is already switched off, so the only change they can try is switching someone back on: that Save is refused before anything is written, with a technical database message in a red box |
Section: Links that open without signing in
These pages open from a link or a PIN instead of a password. Questions about them are answered on their own pages.
| What | How it opens | More |
|---|---|---|
| Time-clock tablet | A saved tablet link; staff clock in with their PIN. An expired link shows a card on the tablet | Tablets are set up in Workforce (Team group in the sidebar) or Settings → Workforce. See Workforce |
| Driver link | A link sent to the driver | Driver |
| Customer portal and review pages | A link sent to the customer | Customer Portal |
| Order tracking, receipts, short links and dispatch pages | A link sent to the customer or crew | Customer links |
Dialog: Sign Out
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your name with a role icon | Bottom of the sidebar | Shows who is signed in: a gold crown for owners, a blue person icon for everyone else | Display only. Shows your name, or your username or email if there's no name, or "User". Reads "Loading..." while your session loads |
| Sign Out | Small red button to the right of your name | Opens the Sign Out confirmation | Shown only while signed in. No tooltip. Greyed out while your session is loading. Reads "Signing…" and is greyed out while signing out |
| Title Sign Out and "You'll need to sign in again on this device to continue. Your other devices stay signed in." | Dialog, with a red sign-out icon | Asks you to confirm | (none) |
| Also sign out on my other devices (tick box) | Under the dialog text | Ticked, the sign-out also ends this login's sessions on every other computer, tablet and phone. Unticked, only this browser signs out | Starts unticked every time, including after you cancel the dialog |
| Cancel | Dialog footer | Closes the dialog. You stay signed in | (none) |
| Sign Out | Dialog footer, red | Clears this browser's saved store logo and setup flags, signs this browser out (or every device, if the box is ticked), and opens the sign-in screen | The dialog stays open while it works, with a spinner on Sign Out and Cancel and the tick box greyed out. If the sign-out hits a problem, an alert says "Sign out completed with warnings. You will be redirected to the login page." and you still go to the sign-in screen |
| "Not signed in" and Sign In | Bottom of the sidebar | Opens the sign-in screen | Only if the sidebar appears without a session, which is rare |
There is no other sign-out button: none in a page header and none in Settings.
Sub-page: The password reset email
| Part | Text |
|---|---|
| From | UpChannels Support Team |
| Subject | "Reset your UpChannels password" |
| Header | "UpChannels Retail Management Platform" and "Reset your password" |
| Body | "Hi," then "We received a request to reset the password for your UpChannels account. Use the button below to choose a new one." |
| Button | Reset my password |
| Backup link | "If the button does not work, copy and paste this link into your browser:" followed by the link |
| Expiry | "This link expires in 1 hour and works once. If you asked for more than one email, only the newest link works." |
| If you didn't ask | "If you didn't ask to reset your password, you can ignore this email. Your password won't change." |
| Sign-off | "Best regards," and UpChannels Support Team |
What the button does: it remembers the link in the browser that opens it, then shows Choose a new password. Opening the link doesn't use it up; that only happens when you submit the new password. So a mail scanner that opens links first can't spoil it. The link lasts 1 hour, as the email says, so finish soon after the email arrives, in the browser that opened it.
Sub-page: Email verification (Settings → Primary User)
Accounts are created already verified. Nothing at sign-up asks you to confirm your email.
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Verified (tick icon) or Not verified (cross icon) | Next to the Email Address label | Shows whether your sign-in email is verified | Normally Verified |
| Verify | Beside the Email Address field | Sends a verification email to the address in the field | Reads "Sending" with a spinner while working, then Resend after one send |
| Verification email | Your inbox | Subject "Welcome to UpChannels • Verify your email address", header "Account email verification", button Verify email address, and "This link will expire in 24 hours." | Clicking the button marks your sign-in email verified and opens Settings |
| Email Address field | Settings → Primary User | Changes the email you sign in with | Applied when you click Save: the same password, and reset links go to the new address. Refused with "That address already has an UpChannels login" if somebody else already uses it |
Sub-page: Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
| Page | What's on it | Controls |
|---|---|---|
| Privacy Policy (app.upchannels.com/legal/privacy) | "Last Updated: January 12, 2025" and "Effective Date: January 12, 2025". Operated by Micro Cube Innovation Inc. (DBA UpChannels), Cupertino, CA. Contact team@upchannels.com. Account data is kept for the life of the account plus 30 days after a deletion request; transaction records for 7 years. Deletion and export are by email request | ← Back to Sign Up at the top, email links, and at the bottom ← Terms of Service and a Back to Sign Up button |
| Terms of Service (app.upchannels.com/legal/terms) | Same dates, company and contact. Governed by California law. To close your account, contact team@upchannels.com | ← Back to Sign Up at the top, a Privacy Policy link, email links, and at the bottom Privacy Policy → and a Back to Sign Up button |
Both pages open in the same narrow column as the sign-in screens. Sign-up links them under Create account ("By creating an account you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy."), and sign-in links them under "Sign up here". There is no tick box to accept them: creating the account is the agreement, and the Terms say so in those words.
Sub-page: Something went wrong screen
| Control | Where | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warning triangle, Something went wrong, "An error occurred. Please try again." | Replaces any account screen | Shown when the screen hits an unexpected error | Rare |
| Try again (refresh icon) | Full-width button | Tries to show the screen again | If it keeps happening, reload the page or try another browser |

| "Still nothing after 15 minutes? Email team@upchannels.com." | Under the green Check your email box | Use it when no email arrives. UpChannels is alerted automatically when the sending itself fails, but not when the address simply has no account |
| "Password not updated" (red box heading) | Choose a new password failed. The reason is underneath | See the rows below |
| "The passwords don't match." | The two password fields differ | Retype them |
| "Choose a password that is different from your current one." | The new password is the same as the old one | Pick another. You have 15 minutes on the same screen |

Who can use what
| What | Who | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in, Forgot password, Choose a new password | Anyone with a login: owners, managers and staff | No plan or add-on needed |
| Create an account | Anyone | Always creates a new, separate business with you as its owner. It can't add you to an existing business |
| Joining an existing business | Team members | The owner creates the login in Settings → Team. There are no invitations |
| Settings button and its Team tab | Everyone Settings lets in | The button at the bottom of the sidebar, and Team itself, both go by the one rule: the Owner switch, the owner role, or the store's only active member. Nobody who may open Settings has to reach it by typing the address |
| Create User and New Password | The Owner switch only | Hidden for everyone else Team lets in. Seats depend on your plan's user count |
| Delete | Shown to everyone Team lets in; the delete itself needs owner level | Greyed for an owner and for your own row. Without owner level, Yes, Delete User answers "Only the organization owner can do this" |
| The Active switch | Shown to everyone Team lets in; saving the change needs owner level | Greyed for your own row ("You cannot switch off your own login"). Without owner level, a Save on anyone else's row is refused before anything is written, with a technical database message in a red box |
| Owner level, for those two controls and the menu Visible switches | The Owner switch or the owner role | Being the store's only active member is not enough. That is the one way into Team without owner level, and since everyone else in such a store is already switched off, the only changes to try are switching someone back on or deleting someone already off — both refused |
| Sign Out | Everyone signed in | Signs this browser out. Also sign out on my other devices in the confirmation signs the login out everywhere |
| Trial and subscription check | Everyone in the business | When the trial has ended or the subscription isn't active, every page opens Plan & Billing |
| "403 - Forbidden" menu check | Businesses with more than one active login | Owners choose what each member sees in Settings → Team. Once everyone else is switched off or deleted, the one person left is never blocked |
| Setup strip | Owners of stores that aren't fully set up | Hidden once the store has orders |
Common questions
Why is the Sign In button greyed out? The human check under the form hasn't passed. Wait a few seconds, and tick the box if Cloudflare shows one. After a failed attempt the check runs again, so wait for it before retrying. If the check box never appears at all, an ad or privacy blocker or a strict network is stopping it, and after about ten seconds the screen says so and offers Try again. Allow app.upchannels.com, then click Try again, or use another browser or network.
I asked for a reset email but nothing came. Why? The screen says "Check your email" whether or not an account uses that address, so first make sure it's the exact email you sign in with. Check spam. A second request for the same address within a minute doesn't send another email. If you changed your email in Settings → Primary User, ask for the link with the new address. If none of that is it, email team@upchannels.com — the line under the green box says so too. UpChannels is alerted on its own when the sending breaks, so a fault that affects everybody reaches UpChannels without you reporting it.
The reset link says "This link has expired". What now? Each link works once, lasts 1 hour, only works in the browser that first opened it, and is cancelled by any newer reset email. Click Request a new link, open the newest email, and finish on the same device and browser. On a phone, the link may open inside your mail app.
Can I sign in with Google? No. UpChannels only uses email and password. There are no magic links, codes or two-factor sign-in.
How do I add a team member? They say they never got an invite. UpChannels doesn't send invitations. The owner opens Settings → Team → Create User, sets the member's email and password, and gives them those details. The member signs in at app.upchannels.com/sign-in.
Why was I signed out? The amber notice on the sign-in screen names the reason when there is one. Nobody used any UpChannels tab in this browser for 18 hours ("You were signed out after 18 hours without activity."); the owner switched your login off, someone signed this login out with Also sign out on my other devices ticked, or a password reset was finished on another device ("You were signed out because your session ended."). An ordinary Sign Out on another device doesn't sign you out. If staff share a login, give each person their own anyway, so hours and history belong to the right person.
How do I change my password while I'm signed in? There's no change-password screen inside the app. Use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen and follow the emailed link. An owner can also type a new password for any member, including themselves, in New Password and Confirm Password in Settings → Team and click Save.
I changed my email in Settings and now I can't sign in. Changing Email Address in Settings → Primary User does change your sign-in email once you click Save, so use the new address.
I can't get into the mailbox I sign in with, and I can't sign in either. If another owner in your store can sign in, they can change your address in Settings → Team. If there is nobody, contact UpChannels support at team@upchannels.com. Then use Forgot password? with the new address if you need a new password too.
How do I close my account? The Terms of Service say to contact team@upchannels.com. For a team member, the owner switching them off in Settings → Team stops their login working and keeps their row; Delete removes them from the team and frees their seat. Either way the email address stays theirs — typing it into Create User brings the removed person back rather than opening a second login.
