Page layout

  • Filters: pick start/end dates, choose revenue basis (grand total vs. net of discounts), and decide whether to include only SALE orders and subtract returns/refunds.
  • Header metrics: net income, gross margin, operating margin, EBITDA, each showing comparison to the previous period.
  • Statement table: expandable sections for Revenue, COGS, Operating Expenses, and calculates Gross Profit, Operating Income, and Net Income. Columns show current period, previous period, change, year-to-date, and previous year.
  • Accounting notes: reminders on how revenue and COGS are derived, plus how expenses flow through the statement.

How to use it

  1. Set the appropriate period (month, quarter, custom) with the date pickers.
  2. Choose the revenue settings that match your accounting method (grand total vs. net, include/exclude non-sale orders, include returns).
  3. Review the metric cards to gauge the month’s profitability and margin shifts.
  4. Expand each section to drill into category-level totals (e.g., product vs. service revenue, specific expense groupings).
  5. Export the data to CSV (top-right) if you need to share with accountants or import into your ledger.

Tips

  • Compare the current month to the previous period to confirm you’re tracking toward goals.
  • Use the year-to-date column for budgeting check-ins midyear.
  • Pair the P&L with the Assets & Liabilities report to understand how profit links to your balance sheet.

Troubleshooting

  • Report shows zeros: confirm you’re logged into the right organization and that revenue/expense data exists for the selected date range.
  • Numbers look off: adjust the revenue basis or include/exclude returns to match your accounting policy.
  • Auth error: refresh your session; the page requires a valid access token to pull finance data.
